A booming city is always a boon to a moving company. The hustle and bustle of a successful metropolis is full of opportunity and encourages risk taking. People are more inclined to just get up and move – to start a business, to go to school, or to take the next step in a relationship. That is when Rawlinson Moving & Storage takes the wheel.
Toronto is obviously the region’s centerpiece; it is a good thing when it is doing well. The dynamic of downtown Toronto has changed. In the article “Echo Boomers in their 20s and 30s are reshaping downtown”, Gayle MacDonald of The Globe and Mail writes, “In the last five years, the population of Toronto’s downtown core has more than tripled, fuelled by demand from the so-called Echo Boomers who want to live and play close to their workplaces, says a new report from TD Bank.”
For decades, many people would work in downtown Toronto and live in the suburbs. They would commute back and forth. The same is true for most, if not all, major cities. That mindset seems to be changing and, as a moving company, we need to recognize that it may be more than just a trend and adjust accordingly. An efficient moving company moves with the times. As Echo Boomers demonstrate, demographics change as well as customer needs. Moving someone from the city into the suburbs is different than moving someone, say, from uptown to downtown.
MacDonald continues, “Naturally, the influx of people to Toronto’s downtown will put greater pressure on public transit, roads and infrastructures that is already overburdened.” The city has a lot on its plate, but one thing is clear: the downtown dynamic has changed and will continue to change. Rest assured though – at Rawlinson Moving & Storage, we will never be overburdened. Echo Boomer or not, we are here to move you into the future.
