2013 is here. New Year, new you, new beginnings. We hope you had a very fulfilling holiday season.
The regional real estate market has improved since January of last year and many people even consider it strong. That being the case, many people have been moving or will start to.
In a recent report, courtesy of John Stewart of www.mississauga.com writes, “Demand for housing in Mississauga remains strong and prices have continued to rise over the past year.” That is exciting news for moving companies. There is no reason to think that the market’s strength will decrease. The positive report is certain to inspire home sales. You can read the report here.
Although many people prefer moving in the spring, as the weather and driving conditions are better, many families have to move in wintertime. While certainly not an opportune time to move, here are some helpful tips to keep in mind.
Pay attention to weather reports. Moving is stressful enough. Imagine moving during a winter storm or, even worse, a blizzard. If the weather is dreadful, it is best to reschedule. You do not want to endanger the lives of you and your family.
If the weather is not too bad, be sure to have a couple of shovels in your car or truck. You may need to shovel yourself out or clear out a driveway and parking spot. Having a shovel in your vehicle during the wintertime seems like common sense, but many backseats and trunks are absent of shovels and other winter tools. Even if you’re not moving, we strongly encourage you to put a shovel in your vehicle.
If you’re renting a moving truck, be careful when driving it. Being behind the wheel of a minor behemoth is very different from sitting in the comfortable seat of your economy car. Black ice is predatory and if you’re not used to driving a truck, slipping will not only be frightening, but also dangerous – use precaution.
If you’re feeling the slightest bit of apprehension in terms of a winter move, consult a professional moving company, such as Rawlinson Moving & Storage!
