We hope you had a safe and happy Christmas! We have briefly touched upon the Mississauga real estate market and our optimism for it heading into 2013. It’s always wise to keep eyes on the fluctuating and sometimes dispiriting regional housing market, especially as an experienced moving company. The economy, as a whole, is the sum of its many parts. One part affects the other and so on. Optimism for the region is certainly strong, if a little reserved. Toronto, it seems, is the perfect example of this.
Although Toronto is growing at a rapid rate, like giant kelp, many are concerned that the city is growing too fast. New skyscrapers and condominiums are appearing out of nowhere. Isn’t that a good problem to have? For some, the Toronto condominium market is worrisome. In the article, “Is Toronto’s condo market as a crossroads? Mega-projects and towers flood city despite growing concerns”, Russ Blinch, of the Financial Post, writes, “The Bank of Canada noted that the number of unsold condominiums in pre-construction has doubled, to 14,000, over the past year.” You never want any unsold properties sitting on the market, but with such fast growth, it’s a bit unavoidable.
Nevertheless, it seems that more pessimism is seeping into the collective consciousness. The prevailing viewpoint is that the market is either boom or bust. People are waiting for the inevitable bust. Many Torontonians believe that the focus should be on renovating the roads and expressways. Others contend that the city is changing for the worse, in terms of its aesthetic and historical appeal. Blinch’s article is an interesting read, particularly the reader comments.
Regardless of one’s views, it’s clear that there will be a lot of moving and need for storage in the region over the next few years. We have you covered. Blinch’s article is an interesting read, particularly the reader comments. You can read it here.
With such rapid growth in Toronto, it’s only natural that it will spread to the surrounding areas. At Rawlinson Moving and Storage, we will move you through booms and busts. It’s wise to keep optimism in check, but it’s also wise to set pessimism aside for a little while.
